Innovative live translation at the BVL Supply Chain CX

Challenge: Ensuring Accessibility for Multilingual Events

Last month, the German Logistics Association (BVL) debuted the BVL Supply Chain CX: Congress meets Expo. Strategy meets operations. C-Level meets Young Professional. And the aiconix Deep Live Hub was also part of this event.

The premiere of this future annual event attracted over 2,500 participants and 200 exhibitors to Berlin. The aim was to translate the content of all stages of the congress for an international audience in real time.

In the past, people used on-site interpreters for this. However, the association wanted a new, cost-effective solution. They needed something that could grow with the demands of a digital and global logistics industry.

Use of the Deep Live Hub for efficient and scalable real-time translation

BVL chose to test our solution at their event highlight. This followed a successful deployment at a conference by the German Association of the Automotive Industry.

The Deep Live Hub – an AI tool for transcription and translation – was available on four of the eight stages. Participants could access it in real-time on their smartphones using QR codes. The user-friendliness and quality of the standard translation – even without customised dictionaries – impressed the audience and organisers alike.

On the technical side, each of the stages was given a dedicated endpoint, which was supplied by the technology via RMTP stream, the input signal was then transcribed and output again using the viewer. The viewer is a browser-based interface that outputs the translation live as continuous text. Using this second screen, viewers were able to read along in their favourite language.

The event technology team provided a person on site to supervise the multiple streams, among other things. Screens and signage used QR codes to draw the audience’s attention to the translation option, which further encouraged use.

Key features

  • Use of the Deep Live Hub for live translations on four of eight stages

  • Providing QR codes for easy access to translations on mobile devices

  • Enabling barrier-free participation for an international audience

  • Planning to equip all stages with the system in the future and increase the number of participants to 5,000

  • Feedback from BVL will also be incorporated into further product development

The result: overwhelmingly positive feedback and the establishment of new standards for logistics events

The use of the Deep Live Hub led to consistently positive feedback from the participants and numerous enquiries about the technology used. The translation quality, scalability and ease of use impressed the organisers and made the event a benchmark in the industry.

Thanks to the positive feedback, the organisers are already considering expanding the solution for future events: The aim is to provide all eight stages with real-time translations at the upcoming BVL Supply Chain CX and to increase the number of visitors to 5,000. However, the association’s other events are also set to benefit from this in the future.
